Heide Beranek-Knauer
Heide, our science all-rounder, has been part of the Open Lab Graz from the very beginning. From course planning and conducting various course modules to developing new program formats, she is involved in all aspects of the hands-on laboratory. Originally coming from basic research in the field of micro- and molecular biology, Heide also teaches university courses for students at the University of Graz. She soon discovered her passion for science communication, and the Open Lab Graz has provided her with the perfect platform for years to share her expertise. Her enthusiasm for it has remained unbroken since day one.
Lucas Eder
Lucas, our game lab master, is a true nerd! As a molecular and microbiologist, he has been contributing his expertise to the Open Lab Graz since 2016, inspiring students with his passion. But Lucas is not only a scientist – he’s also a gamer. He plays everything related to games: video games, tabletop games, and pen & paper role-playing games. His love for gaming is also evident in his lab courses. He is intuitive, spontaneous, and adaptable. In recent years, Lucas has become an indispensable part of the science communication research team, developing innovative methods to convey science – how else – in a playful way.
